More strange noises in the Library

Good morning,

Today (and perhaps a few more days this week) you will hear the technicians working on the lower level skylight on the north side of the building. They are trying to repair an elusive water leak. Just want you to know.

North stairwell closed for now

I want to let you know that Physical Plant has decided to temporarily close the North stairwell until the repairman comes tomorrow. The red rubber coating on the stairs is peeling back in several areas making it a dangerous tripping hazard. The South stairwell is open to use as are the elevators.

Updated "Electronic Reference" info

As the process of replacing the old Windows XP machines in the Reference Room draws to a close, we have taken stock of the fully-loaded programs available on each new machine and updated the Electronic Reference page.

Several of these resources are new, and you probably don't even realize that they are available.  Take a look at the updated page, and try out the new programs sometime.

As for networked electronic information, you can always find that on our Electronic Resources page, or the Online Databases page.

Also, there are scores of high-quality scholarly websites on the internet offering materials and indexes for religious studies and related fields.  Our Reference Links list can help you find some of them.

New faces at Circulation

We welcome two new student workers to the Circulation Desk : Ben Brown and Kelli Eck.  Both are BTSR students in dual degree programs, so they will bring a great set of skills and subject-area knowledge to our already highly skilled and knowledgeable staff.

Please keep an eye out for them, say hello and get to know them next time you're in the Library!

Fire alarm test

Well gosh, we didn't know that they were going to blast our ears with a fire alarm test this morning!  We would have warned you.

We do apologize for the disturbance.

Fall Term hours now in effect

During the summer, Library hours are curtailed a bit to allow our faithful and hard-working Circulation Desk staff to take some time off.

But starting Monday, September 9, we are back to our regular in-session schedule :

Orientation time

New students are on campus, ready for the 2013-14 academic year!  We're happy to see you, and we want to help you get started.  An important part of your preparation is the tour & training session at the Library on Wednesday ... and on Thursday for students at BTSR.

Your Library is brimming with resources that will make your academic and pastoral work more successful and rewarding.  And if you learn just a few basic techniques, the collection will be a lot easier to use.  So please come with an open mind, and let us help you!

Please note that there are 20 student computers in the Multimedia Classroom, which is not quite enough for everyone.  So if some folks bring their laptops or tablets, that would be helpful.

See you tomorrow!
